Palanivel denies his family is involved in MIC’s admin

MIC president says he understands the reaction of someone who has been removed from his position and those with their own agenda.

KUALA LUMPUR: MIC President G Palanivel today denied allegations that his wife and other family members had anything to do with the administration of MIC.

He also urged all irresponsible individuals to not stoop so low and put a stop to allegations involving his family members.

“There has been disparaging remarks made by a few individuals against me and members of my family which has been published in the media.

I can fully understand the counter reaction of someone who had been removed from his position and those with their own agenda,” he said in a statement, here, yesterday.

Palanivel also said, a lawyer by the name of Chandra was appointed by him to handle the issues with the Registrar of Societies (ROS) because he was a legally qualified person and had vast experience in handling similar matters.

“Neither I nor the Deputy President is qualified to handle legal matters. Therefore, there is nothing wrong in his appointment and his involvement in acting for MIC in the ROS matter,” he said.

“The very issue with the ROS is the validity of the Central Working Committee (CWC). Thus, the issue of the CWC appointing the lawyer cannot arise in the circumstances, he said.

Palanivel also urged all parties concerned to stop making false allegations and stop confusing the party members to gain personal mileage.

He added that the party was in this situation with the ROS “because of the minorities who lost in the election”.

“This is expected in any party election carried out democratically where the majority wins and the minority is dissatisfied. We are dealing with this matter seriously,” he said.
