DAP's Ariff Sabri offers an insight into Najib's character.
PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak will turn back and direct his political forces against Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim once he has regained his strength, according to Raub MP Ariff Sabri.
The DAP man issues this warning in his latest blog entry, in which he responds to suspended PKR member Badrul Hisham Shaharin’s criticism of an earlier posting that questioned Anwar’s wisdom in joining forces with Najib against former prime minister Mahathir Mohamad and former finance minister Daim Zainuddin.
He says Badrul Hisham’s different reading of the situation is a “matter of opinion”.
Ariff says his own opinion is based on his knowledge of Najib’s character. “When Najib is weak, he’ll use anyone. When he’s strong, he’ll thrash everyone. When Najib becomes strong again, what’s to stop him from obstructing Anwar and dealing cruelty on him and Pakatan?”
He says Najib is currently not in a strong enough position to fight the Mahathir and Daim forces because there are too many skeletons in his closet. “As soon as the threats against him are gone, he’ll crush others.”
He says he fears that if opposition politicians lend Najib support against Mahathir and Daim, they’ll be riding a tiger. “They’ll be afraid to dismount.”
“To me, it’s better to focus on one battleground at a time. When Najib is out of Putrajaya and Anwar is in power, Pakatan can then deal with Mahathir, Daim or anyone else. It’s all a question of getting the power. That’s the objective of the game called politics.”
