MCA slams 'GOOD FOR NOTHING' Perkasa for 'lowly tricks to incite racial sentiment' at condo protest

MCA slams 'GOOD FOR NOTHING' Perkasa for 'lowly tricks to incite racial sentiment' at condo protest
We are appalled that certain groups continue to mislead the public and promote racial hatred that will only harm national harmony and descend our country into crisis.
We regret that the chaotic anti-Datum Jelatek Condominium project protest led by Datum Jelatek Action Committee, which comprises Selangor Perkasa and over 100 Taman Keramat residents had stated that they did not want their neighborhood to become a ‘Chinese area’.
Committee chairman Salleh Majid claimed that the luxury condominium was purposefully placed at exorbitant prices to get rid of Malays buyers and alleged that it was a DAP agenda. He went on to say that Keramat, the subject site was an area established by former Mentri Besar Dato’ Harun Idris to balance the racial gap between the Chinese and Malay populations, taking a cue from the May 13 tragedy.
Such demonstration basing on racial distrust is dangerous and totally unacceptable in this multi-racial country. The condominium is open to buyers of all races. In addition, Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) statistics revealed that a total of 1,097 potential Bumiputra buyers have registered their interest in the 674 units put up for sale.
We are also alarmed that any racially-tuned events sees the omni-presence of members from Perkasa, which is good for nothing but only hanging on to its lowly tricks to incite racial sentiment among the Malays for its own agenda and survival.
They might sound like experts when talking about the May 13 tragedy but have learnt nothing from this dark piece of history. Instead, they are tearing our peaceful society apart with their very own actions.
The only viable way forward for Malaysia is for all races to work together to build up this country and prosper together. Multiculturalism is our strength and has nothing to do at all with the ‘zero-sum game’ theory.
As such, if the protestors indeed loved the nation and their race, all the more reason for them to stop propagating racial divisiveness which is detrimental to national security that will eventually cause all races to suffer.
