MALAY GIRLS, DO YOU AGREE? Rosmah's 'motherly' hugs different from K-pop fans - Umno sycophant Syed Ali
An Umno leader has come to Rosmah Mansor's defence following calls for the prime minister's wife to be investigated by religious authorities for hugging prominent personalities, including national shuttler Lee Chong Wei.
Photographs of Rosmah's public displays of affection have made the rounds on the social media as netizens accused the Federal Territories Islamic Affairs Department (Jawi) of double standards.
This comes after Jawi announced it would investigate the Muslim girls who had hugged K-pop stars at a fan meeting last week.
However, Cheras Umno chief Syed Ali Alhabshee said unlike the Muslim teens, Rosmah's hug for the national badminton player was a "motherly" one.
"I consider Rosmah hugging the country's number one badminton player as an appreciation of a mother to her child for succeeding in sports.
"It cannot be likened to the action of the three (sic) tudung-clad girls with the K-pop stars," Syed Ali said in a blog posting yesterday.

He added anyone familiar with Rosmah's programmes would know that she often calls herself the mother of 28 million Malaysians in her speeches.
Syed Ali said that there was no need for people to question Jawi's authority and the religious regulator knows how to handle "vices".
Photographs of Rosmah hugging Bollywood stars have also circulated on social media following Jawi's action.
However, Syed Ali did not have an explanation for this, and merely slammed certain quarters for politicising the issue and attempting to embarrass the prime minister's wife.
He added that the pictures were an irresponsible bid to insult "the prime minister's institution" and an attempt to distract from the K-pop controversy.
Last Saturday, four tudung-clad girls who were invited on stage during a B1A4 fan meeting hugged the South Korean stars, raising the ire of conservative Muslims and religious authorities. - M'kini
