Coffee for 20 sen? That’s business with a heart!

Restoran Tok Keramat in Jitra is breaking all the rules and charging real low prices for the basic of human needs - food.
tok keramat1JITRA: At a time when all we hear about are spiralling prices and shrinking wallets, it is heartwarming to know that tucked away somewhere up north in Jitra, Kedah is a restaurant selling coffee and roti canai, the staples of many a hungry Malaysian, at rock-bottom prices.
According to a posting in Facebook, Restoran Tok Keramat is doing brisk business, catering to hundreds of students who live in the vicinity by offering food and beverages at simply jaw-dropping prices.
Proudly advertising their affordable menu, Restoran Tok Keramat is even giving away a free motorcycle to the lucky 1,000,000th customer who walks in for a meal. Now if that isn’t brilliant marketing and advertising, what is?
tok keramat2Flying in the face of what most business graduates would consider profitable pricing, Restoran Tok Keramat has brought some “heart” into their business by pricing a hot cup of coffee ‘O’ (minus milk) at only 20 sen while roti canai is a shockingly a modest 50 sen.
If you’re into a second helping of rice, well… go right ahead and have your fill for free!
And there are more freebies – every Sunday and Wednesday, customers enjoy free “bubur” (a sweet porridge) while every Monday and Thursday, drinks are on the house. Tuesdays is free fruit day and yes… we just have to repeat that there’s a free motorcycle thrown into the bargain too.
For us folks in the Klang Valley, we can only hope that some kind soul would take up the challenge to offer us some decent food at a reasonable price.
For now, it’s back to paying an arm and a leg to fill our belly.
