Selangor opposition leader Datuk Mohd Shamsudin Lias said Anwar should step down because he had tarnished the image of Selangor in his effort to push forward the "Kajang Move" that saw the ousting of former menteri besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.
Although admitting that the stripping of the "Datuk Seri" title and the state economic adviser post was unrelated, the Sungai Burong assemblyman said the PKR de facto leader should still withdraw "in the name of integrity".
"It is now time for him to withdraw, step down as Selangor economic adviser," he said.
"Both are unrelated, I know, but we are looking at it in terms of integrity, how the crisis within Pakatan Rakyat has affected the state," Shamsudin added.
Earlier today, the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah had decided to revoke Anwar's datukship for 'repeatedly questioned the integrity of the Sultan and the royal institution during the recent menteri besar crisis.
The revocation of the award, which was conferred to Anwar, took effect on November 3.
Anwar, however, retained other awards which carry the title "Datuk Seri" from other states, including from Sabah, Negri Sembilan and Penang.
In an immediate response after the revocation, he said he will continue to carry out his duties both as a parliamentarian and as the Selangor economic adviser.
