TIME FOR 'KETUANAN MALAYSIAN' TO SPEAK UP:Open Letter to Syed Ali & other Umno extremists

TIME FOR 'KETUANAN MALAYSIAN' TO SPEAK UP:Open Letter to Syed Ali & other Umno extremists
NonMalays, especially the Chinese were taken aback by Umno division leader Syed Ali Alhabshee’s recent hostile statements against the Chinese. Even BN compatriots like our dear MCA leaders were not spared in the past by his hostility.
Branded by many as an Indian-Muslim or ‘Mamak’, he probably has Arab blood but is accepted as Malay and an UMNO member by virtue of Umno’s lax and liberal policies. Many see his stinging racist remarks as starkly resembling that of racist NGO Perkasa, and he is beginning to sound like a ‘Katak Ali’ clone.
Zealot with a vast inferiority complex
Obviously, he is a failed politician, trying to cover up his vast inferiority complex and inherent fears, by blaming the Non Malays for his failures.
Many believes his crude attempts to offend the Chinese and other Non Malays stems from his desperation as UMNO Cheras Chief, a seat he knows he will never win, not even in his wildest dreams..
It is precisely because of people like him who starts hollering like a crackpot, that the world is going to end, or an emergency has to be declared on deteriorating Malay Rights, that has tempted Tun Mahathir to call for Selangor UMNO leaders to vacate their positions in order to save Umno Selangor.
Low-calibre leaders like him and Noh Omar have been living in their own comfort zone like fat cats, taking pot shots at the Opposition every once in a while, but totally clueless on what strategies to deploy to redeem Selangor state.
Syed Ali Alhabshee
Making everyone hate Umno even more
Each time he berates the Non Malays, he not only caused the Non Malays to shy away from UMNO and BN, but along with it, the crucial votes that BN so sorely needs. Doesn’t he seem to notice that, DAP always seem to smile from ear to ear, every time he bashes the Non Malays? In fact he is doing a better job than Perkasa and Isma put together.
He is not only insulting the Chinese, but also the Malays in PAS and PKR who is seen to be colluding with the Chinese. However, it seems like he needs his 5 minutes of fame very badly, before the UMNO Annual Assembly to justify his relevance.
Like Noh Omar, he is starting to panic, knowing that his senior bosses in UMNO are not going to be lenient with them, for sleeping on the job. Selangor State is far too precious to UMNO, than to be left in the hands of such unproductive politicians to handle.
Syed Ali may be under pressure, but that doesn’t give him any right to insult the Non Malays and sowing hatred and discord. Such unscrupulous politicians only give UMNO and BN a bad name, but they are undoing all the goodwill that BN has accrued in the past.
Therefore, the Non Malays which comprises the Chinese, Indians and the Bumiputras of Sabah and Sarawak would take this opportunity to pen him a reply and to outline our grievances to UMNO.
Don't take our patience for granted
Dear YB Syed Ali Alhabshee,
Greetings from the non bumiputras! We hope this letter finds you well.
We like to take this opportunity to call on UMNO, and the Malays to emulate the Non Malays who are patient and willing to compromise.
Malays must also accept the reality that "ketuanan bukan melayu" (Non-Malay hegemony), the different languages of our mother tongues and Buddhism, Hinduism, Sikhism and Christianity cannot be questioned, threatened or belittled.
Furthermore, we hope that UMNO Malays would not be “prejudicial or envious” towards the Non-Malays and Non-Muslims.
We also feel disappointed that UMNO has deliberately magnified issues related to the position and interests of Non-Malays, including matters of religion.
UMNO must understand that non-Malays are also ‘tuan’ (masters) in this country just like the Malays, and UMNO must also understand that it is because of the Non-Malays willingness to compromise; that the Malays can carry out all sorts of activities, especially in politics, agriculture, defence and the governance sector, of which you have done a very tardy job.
We also like to point out that in the last two general elections that Non Malay support for PR and Opposition candidates has increased.
“This clearly shows that the Malays are not blindly supporting the government, and this attitude must remain. Malay voters should not be on the side of the government, unless BN restores full democracy and rule of law.
For the same reason, Malay voters should not be influenced by BN, which is fanning racial and anti-non-Malay sentiments.
The Non-Malays have been patient and tolerant despite our position often being questioned by UMNO, and it is this patience which serves as the foundation for shaping a progressive and harmonious Malaysian society.
We have compromised, even when UMNO together with extremist NGOs openly disputes our position, despite it being enshrined in the Federal Constitution.
When UMNO criticises and questions our rights, 'Ketuanan bukan Melayu' (Non-Malay Supremacy) and our individual religious beliefs, we remained patient believing that our patience will preserve the stability of the nation and well-being of all races.
However, be warned that our patience has its limit and we call on all races to understand the real history (not the rewritten history) of the nation and abide by the Federal Constitution.
In view of this, we welcome Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s reminder to all Malaysians to be more sensitive towards each other when emphasising the need for mutual respect. -MAILBAG
