PKR’s Sim Tze Tzin has criticised Putrajaya for its move to slash the 2015 budget for federal road maintenance. – The Malaysian Insider pic, November 19, 2014.
An opposition MP has accused Putrajaya of getting its priorities wrong when it slashed its 2015 budget for federal road maintenance by RM459 million, while paying the same amount in compensation to toll concessionaires.
"Is this a coincidence? Why does the ministry do away with the maintenance budget but pay the toll concessionaires?" said Sim Tze Tzin (PKR - Bayan Baru).
The biggest casualty in the budget cuts are federal roads in Sabah, Sabah and Labuan which saw a 63% or RM269 million reduction, while federal roads in the peninsula will see a decrease of 30% or RM190 million.
