Khairy wants Singapore to explain ban on Malaysian fans

The Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore was packed with Myanmar supporters while Malaysians were denied entry.
khairy ultra malayaKUALA LUMPUR: Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin is seeking an explanation from Singapore authorities after Malaysian football fans were refused entry on Sunday at the Tuas Checkpoint to watch a match in the republic and took to Twitter in protest.
The protest in Twitter carried photos of the ban notice issued by the Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority.
Khairy said in a FaceBook posting that it has been brought to his attention that Malaysian football fans were denied entry to watch the AFF Suzuki Cup 2014 match between Malaysia and Myanmar on Sunday in the republic.
“My administration has written to the Singapore authorities seeking an explanation as to why those Malaysians were mistreated and denied access into Singapore to support their national team, said Khairy in the posting. “I respect procedures imposed by a foreign country but I am disappointed over the treatment received by Malaysian football fans.”
“I have been informed that the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore was packed with Myanmar supporters who flocked to the venue complete with banners and flags.”
Malaysia was held to a scoreless draw by Myanmar in the Group B match at the Jalan Besar Stadium on Sunday.
