WHY IS NAJIB TAKING MALAYSIA BACKWARDS? Arise UM undergrads, fight govt's draconian strike on Prof Azmi - student body

"Today morning, Azmi Sharom, Law Professor of UM became the new victim of the draconian sedition law, which further darken the darkest era of Malaysia Legislation System since the national independence.
Professor Azmi Sharom was charged over his remarks on the Perak Constitutional Crisis. Thus it is proven that the grip of government is still laid on the academic sector of Malaysia and the academic freedom is very much gone.
It is 2 days after Malaysia Independence day and after 57 years of Independence, the academic level of Malaysia drops horrendously and it is definitely caused by the lack of freedom and transparency in the academic sector.
The Government should set free the Judiciary and Executive systems and not use it for their own advantage. Plus, it is against the Constitution to control them.
Why is our Prime Minister bringing Malaysian BACKWARD instead of making Malaysia a more democratic country?
Who is causing harm on Malaysia now? A law professor that expressed his point of view and rebuke the government, or the government that has dictatorship and greed over everything?
We urge the Prime Minister to explain this and stop the abuse of this draconian act. Sedition Act should be abolished immediately to restore the country.
Lastly, we urge students to not keep quiet to this matter. We have been taught by the university to obey fully but University is in the grip of the government. At first is Prof. Redzuan, now Prof. Azmi Sharom. Where is the academic freedom?
Now the government did something wrong, every students should stand and voice out against it!
Everything is dark now, the only hope lies in the awareness of University students."
