Teng told to keep his promise

An anti-Kidex group wants Selangor Exco member Teng Chang Khim to keep his promise of no tolls, no highways.
say-no-to-kidex1PETALING JAYA: The “Say No To Kidex” (SNTK) movement has told state executive council (Exco) member Teng Chang Khim, to “do the right thing” and uphold his promise of no tolls or highways in Petaling Jaya.
In an open letter to Teng, Assistant Chairman of the Residents’ Association of Section 14A Michael Kum said, “The Buku Jingga Manifesto clearly spelt out, that core KPI’s, KRA’s, are on abolishment of tolls, and no highways.”
Kum said despite this, Teng had stood on the side of former Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim and supported the building of Kidex (Kinrara-Damansara Expressway).
Asking Teng why he was continuously supportive of Kidex, Kum said, “Everyone knows, this is a crony project to rake money for Kidex Sdn Bhd, and milk the toll payers for the next 40 years.”
He also accused Teng of ignoring the numerous appeals by Selangorians who “publicly rebutted” Teng’s statements about the benefits of Kidex when the expressway clearly made no “fundamental economic sense”, would create “social damage” and destroy the state’s greenery.
While agreeing traffic congestion was indeed a problem in Petaling Jaya, Kum maintained “Kidex is not the answer”.
He added, “Better transportation models and seamless inter-connectivity by public transport, i.e. trains, buses, and point to point coverage in least wait time, is a way cheaper solution.”
Kum cautioned Teng that members of SNTK were keeping a close eye on his every move and relied on his “kind proactive actions to stop Kidex asap”.
