PKR in a tizzy over Azmin for MB rumour, but none the clearer

Sources in the party said there were attempts being made to block such a move, while those aligned to the Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman were already preparing positions in the menteri besar’s office for his team.
‎"There are proposals that Azmin be urged to reject the appointment if he is chosen to ensure that the palace only appoints Kak Wan," a source told The Malaysian Insider, referring to PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
There are also some extreme views that Azmin should be sacked if he accepts the MB post.
‎"If Khalid can be sacked for defying party orders to step down for Kak Wan, why can't Azmin be sacked as well for blocking her from being appointed the MB?" asked the source, referring to the incumbent MB Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.
The Selangor palace has fixed Tuesday for the swearing-in ceremony of the new menteri besar at Istana Alam Shah in Klang. However, it did not name who the person would be.
Speculation abounds as to the identity of the new MB who will take over from the incumbent Khalid.
Sources in Khalid's office are also in the dark on his replacement.
‎"Looks like the person who is busy lobbying the sultan's advisers is Azmin. Maybe it's him," said a source from the MB’s office.
‎Azmin and Selangor PAS commissioner Iskandar Samad are the two candidates widely tipped by the media to helm the country's wealthiest state.
‎The Selangor Royal Council is said to be meeting on Sunday to make a final decision on the matter. The council is an advisory body to the state ruler.
Last Thursday, after news of Tuesday’s swearing-in ceremony spread, PKR sources said it would be “awkward” if Azmin did indeed become the MB as he had not been nominated.
PKR and DAP have all along stuck with Dr Wan Azizah for the post, who has garned the majority support from 30 Selangor legislators who signed statutory declarations backing her.
PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, however, submitted three names to the sultan.
‎The three are said to be Dr Idris Ahmad (PKR-Ijok), Dr Yaakob Sapari (PKR-Kota Anggerik) and Iskandar Samad (PAS-Chempaka).
PAS's central committee on September 7 had decided to reject the MB post if it was given to one of its assemblymen.
The issue is being hotly debated at PAS’ ongoing annual assembly in Johor, with party members split over it.
