A Malaysian passport will get you to 166 countries without the need to apply for a visa beforehand, putting the country at the 8th spot in a ranking of countries with international travel freedom for its citizens.
The Henley & Partners Visa Restrictions Index 2014 placed Malaysia among 219 countries based on the number of countries their passport holders are allowed to enter without visa restrictions.
The same survey last year placed Malaysia at the 9th spot with 163 countries not imposing visa restrictions on its holders.
Among Malaysia's neighbours, Singapore was placed in the 5th spot with New Zealand and Switzerland, whose passports are good for visa-free access to 170 countries.
The score of each country is according to the number of other countries that its citizens can travel to without having to obtain a visa.
Ranked at the bottom of the list is Afghanistan, with Pakistan, Somalia and Iraq coming close. An Afghan passport allows its citizens to visit 28 countries, according to the survey.
The survey also took into account some countries which do not control their visa regulations such as Andorra, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Palestinian Territory, San Marino and Vatican City, as well as countries whose citizens share their passports, such as Bermuda and Falkland Islands which issue British passports.
Malaysian passport holders are allowed to travel to all countries except Israel.
