IF NOT HISHAM, THEN MUKHRIZ? Najib wants to replace Muhyiddin with his cousin as DPM - Dr M loyalist warns

Following the leak of several UPSR examination papers, there have been calls on Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, who also oversees the education portfolio, to resign.
Muhyiddin had claimed that the leak might be an attempt to sabotage him and tarnish his image.
However, former minister Zainuddin Maidin  warned that Muhyiddin’s resignation would not bode well for Umno since it would leave the door open for Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s cousin and current defence minister Hishammuddin Hussein.
He said Najib would pick Hishammuddin despite Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also an Umno vice-president, having stronger grassroots support, is more popular in Umno and possesses a greater sense of nationalism.
“This (appointing Hishammuddin) will worsen the situation,” added the former Utusan Malaysia group chief editor in his latest blog posting.
Zainuddin, who is popularly known as Zam, said Hishammuddin had convinced his cousin that he is capable of becoming number two with his handling of the MH370 press conferences, speaking the “Queen’s English”.
“In view of this, Muhyiddin must hold on to his position until there is awareness in Umno that the party must separate itself from the continuation of elitist leaders, aristocrats and the building of a dynasty,” he added.
Taking a swipe at opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, he said if Allah loves Umno then things would fall into place without a plan.
“Just like what happened to Umno’s greatest enemy Anwar.
“PAS and DAP dug their own graves, it happened without any planning by Umno but rather the will of Allah who set in motion the ‘Kajang move’,” he added, referring to the Selangor menteri besar crisis.
Zainuddin, a staunch supporter of Dr Mahathir Mohamad, has been sour with Najib over the prime minister’s decision to repeal the Internal Security Act and his promise to abolish the Sedition Act. -M'kini
