Hadi: ‘No written deal that PKR owns MB post’

BATU PAHAT - Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang yesterday hinted that the party may accept the Selangor menteri besar’s post if one of its assemblymen was chosen by the sultan of Selangor to take over from Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.
Hadi, in his closing speech at the party’s 60th muktamar, said there was no written agreement between the Pakatan parties that the post was PKR’s.
“Pas is not hankering for the post. But, there is no written agreement about the post belonging to PKR.”
He said the party’s position on the matter was to let the sultan of Selangor make the decision based on syarak (Islamic laws), adding that Pas had never agreed to the “Kajang Move”, which was initiated by PKR to oust Khalid.
“That move was imposed on us by our partner.”
He lambasted PKR and DAP for not adhering to the proper conduct of cooperation with Pas by “stealing” two of its assemblymen to achieve their aim of installing PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as menteri besar.
“Is this the right way for them to honour our cooperation in the alliance?” he asked, to shouts of “Allahuakbar”.
Hadi described two Pas assemblymen, Saari Sungib (Hulu Klang) and Hasnul Baharuddin (Morib), as barua (stooges) for joining their counterparts from PKR and DAP in signing a statutory declaration in support of Dr Wan Azizah, without the approval of the Pas leadership.
“We are not taking this lightly. Didn’t all our assemblymen sign a baiah (oath) when they were named as candidates in the general election? What happened to the baiah?”
He warned PKR and DAP to not use Pas as a stepping stone to achieve their political goals.
“Nobody should use Pas like a bridge to get across a river, or treat the party like a hotel, where one would leave after having a good sleep or a nice meal.” -NST
