DBKL denies bias towards Bumi traders

DBKL says if a trader doesn't have a licence, its officers have the right to seize and remove the trader’s goods.
nordinKUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has denied claims by certain parties that it had singled out and acted aggressively against Bumiputera traders while enforcing the law here.
Its director general Mhd Amin Nordin Abd Aziz said DBKL does not practise bias.
“We are not biased. Traders must abide by the rules and can only conduct their business where they have been permitted. If they fail to do so we would seize and remove their goods,” he told reporters.
Mohd Amin Nordin said this after closing a state level school drug-related crime prevention carnival here today.
On the video clip which purportedly showed a DBKL enforcement officer using force on a trader who was operating without a licence at Taman Tasik Permaisuri, last week, he said his officers were not involved.
He said a police report had been lodged on the video lasting two minutes and 52 seconds, which was circulated in the social media to smear DBKL’s image. -BERNAMA
