A car salesman was arrested early this morning for allegedly calling traffic policemen "monkey" on Facebook, Harian Metro reported.
The 32-year-old, who has been remanded for three days, was detained at his home in Taman Cheng Utama, Malacca, just after midnight.
Several police reports had been lodged against him over the posting.
According to the screenshot of the post, the social media user was alleged to have posted: "Those 'monkey' is looking for extra income... pls beware at Melaka raya near to Standard Chartered bank."
The Malay daily reported that police reports were made against the user known as "Kent Tan", by members of the public who claimed that such postings could dent the reputation of the police force.
Investigations revealed that the post was made soon after two traffic cops had stopped the car driven by the suspect at Taman Melaka Raya yesterday before noon.
Raja Shahrom was reported as saying that the post was then uploaded at about 11.30am the same day.
