KUALA LUMPUR - PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail will not be made a Selangor executive councillor but will instead head a state conglomerate (GLC), according to Berita Harian.
Quoting PKR sources, the newspaper said it was highly unlikely for Selangor mentri besar Azmin Ali to appoint the Kajang state lawmaker as an exco member, but she may be appointed to lead a Selangor GLC instead.
BH also quoted a source saying that PKR state lawmakers who may be appointed as excos include Sri Muda assemblyman Mat Shuhaimi Shafie, former exco member Dr Daroyah Alwi (Sementa), Dr Xavier Jeyakumar (Seri Andalas) and Amiruddin Saari (Batu Caves).
PKR deputy president Azmin, who was sworn in on Tuesday as Selangor’s 15th mentri besar, takes over from Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim who had held the post for more than six years from 2008.
Azmin’s appointment puts an end to a protracted crisis which has pitted Pakatan Rakyat (PR) allies PKR, DAP and PAS against one another.
Khalid’s administration has been long been criticised as “stingy” by his critics, especially those aligned to Azmin. -Malay Mail
