Anwar creates problems, likes to divide

Former premier Mahathir Mohamad says the crisis within PAS is a good lesson for the party.

PUTRAJAYA: Former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad had lumped all the blame within PAS on Anwar Ibrahim, saying the leader always created problems because of he liked to divide his political peers.

According to a Bernama report, Mahathir said, “This (problem) is the result of their (PAS) cooperation with Datuk Seri Anwar, anyone who works with him will face problems because he likes to divide.”

Mahathir related how Anwar brought problems for Umno and how he has done the same in the opposition coalition of Pakatan.

“He can split his own supporters, you can see he has a history like that. When he joined Umno, he brought problems, he formed Pakatan, he created problems,” Bernama quoted Mahathir as saying.

Mahathir also said that this should serve as a good lesson for PAS.

The Islamist party was clearly divided politically as seen during their just ended 60th muktamar in Johor.

Cracks in PAS showed as early as the start of the Kajang Move orchestrated by Rafizi Ramli of PKR last year, in what was widely believed to be a frantic bid to get Anwar the post of Selangor Menteri Besar.

Recently, PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang denounced two Selangor assemblymen from the party who signed statutory declarations in support of PKR President Wan Azizah’s candidacy for the MB post, accusing the two of having been “stolen” and “bought”.
