Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said all parties must accept Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah's choice for Selangor menteri besar to avoid a prolonged political crisis, Bernama reported today.
Should the Selangor state legislative assembly propose and pass a motion of no confidence against the new menteri besar, the political dilemma in the state will remain a deadlock, he said.
The swearing in of the new Selangor menteri besar to replace Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim will be held tomorrow at Istana Alam Shah, Klang.

The Sultan's private secretary Datuk Mohamad Munir Bani had earlier said that the name of the new menteri besar would be announced today.
This followed reports that PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali would replace Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim as Selangor menteri besar.
It is believed that Azmin, who is also Hulu Kelang state assemblyman, is expected to take the oath of office at the palace tomorrow.
According to reports by The Star Online, Azmin is currently in the midst of discussions with PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and party president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, who was the party’s choice of MB all along.
He had earlier said he would not assume the position as long as the party wanted its president to replace Khalid.
