Umno groups rush to justify PAS 'defection' from PR: It will get rid of DAP & Chinese extremism
It will be easy to simply flick away DAP and the ideologies of other “liberal Chinese extremists” if PAS teams up with Umno, Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) vice-president Abdul Rahman Dali has said.
Combining the two parties, which have preserving Islam and Malay supremacy as their main aims, will be powerful enough and unstoppable, Abdul Rahman said in a statement released yesterday evening.
"I support the views of Mohd Zuhdi (Marzuki, the PAS research centre operations director) on PAS-Umno coalition because with the combination of these two powers, the ideologies of the liberals can be easily brushed aside," he said in reference to the controversial leaked WhatsApp message on one scenario of PAS breaking away from Pakatan Rakyat.
Abdul Rahman also said PAS must lead by example as a strong Islamic party with a strong leadership by "defending Islam and Muslims in whatever condition possible".
The main enemies, he said, are those who are against Islam, which he defined as any party liberal enough to incite Isma's anger.
"The decision of PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang  to support Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim is mature and I feel, increases the dignity that PAS seems to be lacking of late.
"This stance shows that PAS refuses to be bullied by DAP, the anti-constitution socialist party that aims to erode Malay supremacy," Rahman said.
The Isma vice-president also said that by standing tall on its decision, PAS refuses to be the “liberal yes man” of PKR.
Speaking about the defining decision of the PAS central committee to be made on Khalid’s position on Aug 17, Rahman warned that despite all the lobbying PAS is doing, a few influential individuals within the party, who are aligned to PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim, might overturn the decision.
"I do hope my observations are wrong," he said. - Mkini
