Sultan has moral obligation to intervene

The Penang Malay Congress says the Selangor political crisis is hurting the administration of the state.
sultan-selangor-dan-khalidBUTTERWORTH: Pakatan Rakyat should seek the advice of the Sultan of Selangor to find closure to the menteri besar issue, Penang Malay Congress president Rahmad Isahak said today.
“If Pakatan cannot reach a consensus by this weekend it is time for the Sultan to intervene,” he said.
He added that the ruler has a moral obligation to intervene and ensure that the state administration continued smoothly.
Rahmad said the people of Selangor, were understandably anxious to see an end to the crisis.
“Instead of dealing with issues of living costs, security, environment and water shortage, Khalid and his Pakatan peers are bickering over who should lead Selangor,” he said.
He added that this was unhealthy and must be stopped before it brings the state administration to a halt.
Former PKR Bukit Bendara head Jason Ong Khan Lee said the issue should be resolved by PKR not PAS or DAP.
“PKR must allow for a graceful exit for Khalid, which may be too late as the party has decided to wash its dirty linen in public,” he said.
