FLIP-FLOP COMING? No water rationing YET in Selangor - Khalid

FLIP-FLOP COMING? No water rationing YET in S'gor - Khalid
SHAH ALAM - Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said he is confident that water supply in the state can be sustained for at least a month without rationing despite the current precarious water level in Selangor rivers.
When asked if water rationing would be announced by the Selangor government anytime soon, Abdul Khalid said they were working on a plan to hold off rationing for at least a month.
"We are planning to sustain water supply without rationing for at least one month based on our calculation," he said when met at the Shah Alam court, here, today.
Asked to comment on Energy, Green Technology and Water Ministry secretary-general Datuk Loo Took Gee's statement that level at the dam could drop to 30 per cent in the next 11 days, he said he would seek explanation from ministry representatives on the state's water committee.
"We will see. We need to meet the people in the ministry as they are also part of our water committee," he said.
The water level at the Sungai Selangor dam is believed to be at its lowest ever mark.
The dam, which supplies water to 1.9 million users in Kuala Lumpur, Gombak, Petaling, Shah Alam and Klang, had dropped to 36.74 per cent in March this year, well below the 55 per cent minimum level.
The water level is currently at 32.74 per cent as stated in the Lembaga Urus Air Selangor (Luas) website today.
On Friday (August 1), NST reported that Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim said there are no plans for another round of water rationing. -NST
