They allege that he claimed Najib was responsible for fixing an early date for Anwar Ibrahim's Sodomy 2 appeal.
n_surendran-300x234GEORGE TOWN: Seventeen people led by two Barisan Nasional assemblymen have lodged police reports against PKR vice-president and Padang Serai MP N. Surendran for claiming that Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak was responsible for fixing an early date for Anwar Ibrahim’s Sodomy 2 appeal at the Federal Court.
Assemblymen Mahmud Zakaria of Sungai Acheh and Muhamad Farid Saad of Pulau Betong led the 17, who were from Umno and NGOs, to lodge their reports at the Jalan Patani police station at 3pm here today.
Mahmud told newsmen that In their reports, the 17 had also alleged Surendran of instigating Najib to misuse his power to demand that the Attorney-General (AG) Gani Patail to drop the case against Anwar.
“As a lawyer and MP, Surendran should know what he said was against the law.
“He has undermined not just Najib, but the Prime Minister of the country and the judiciary.
“He should not accuse the Prime Minister of influencing the judicial process of the country.
“He shall not ask the Prime Minister to misuse his power to get the AG to drop the charges against Anwar.
“It’s a serious offence and we want the police to investigate and take appropriate action according to the law against Surendran,” said Mahmud.
Anwar’s appeal will be heard at the Federal Court on Oct 28 and 29.
PKR lawmaker Surendran in a press interview allegedly accused Najib of interfering in the legal process by pushing for early dates for Anwar’s appeal.
