Zul Noordin: Why stop at humanitarian aid for Gaza?

The global Muslim population is 1.5 billion. Muslims also have control of oil across the globe and are in possession of sophisticated weapons.

Yet, with these advantages up their sleeves, why are Muslims only able to send humanitarian aid to Palestine, send memoranda of protest to Israel, demonstrate and conduct special prayers?

This is the question asked by former Kulim Bandar Baru MP Zulkifli Noordin (left) in a blog post responding to the pounding of Israel on Gaza.

“And yet we are only able to hold demonstrations and send memoranda condemning Israel? And we can only roll around on the road?

“And after that we will all gather at a mamak stall and watch the FIFA World Cup!” Zulkifli, who was once also Malay rights pressure group Perkasa vice president, snidely.

149 people, mostly civilians, women and children, have died in Israel’s attack on the Gaza strip, which enters its sixth day today.

No deaths have been reported on the Israeli side.

The border conflict shows no signs of abating despite international pressure against the attacks

'Coming home in body bags'

Writing in his blog yesterday, Zulkifli also recounted the golden age of Islamic civilization where he said the prophet’s companion Khalid al-Walid faced an army of more than a million with only 20,000 soldiers.

“Yet today we are only able to send blankets, pillows and medicines, collect funds, conduct special prayers and hold demonstrations!

“Dear Muslims, how much longer (must this go on)? Check your own faiths,” he said.

He further said that since the Balfour Declaration of 1917 which led to the formation of Israel, Muslims in Palestine have known no peace and have had their lives on the line.

He said that Israel not only kills at will, they also control water, electricity, Palestinian airspace and beaches.

“Imagine, others sending their children to school everyday in tears not knowing whether they will see their child again, or if the child will be killed by bombs of Israel snipers!

“Imagine congregations praying in mosques not knowing whether they will return alive or in body bags!”
