Police to call Kit Siang in for a statement

Police will record a statement from DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang soon on his comment recently in the portal The Rocket, about the death of Teoh Beng Hock.

Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar (right) said police had received several reports concerning the comment as it contained seditious content.

"His words in the article could be seditious, we will investigate Lim under the Sedition Act," he told reporters after distributing breaking-of-fast food to Kuala Lumpur traffic officers at the Pulau Tiga Jalan Estafan in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

In his article titled, "Malaysians will not rest until justice is done for the killing of Teoh Beng Hock" last Wednesday, he had questioned why no arrests had been made for the killer of Selangor exco's political secretary, Teoh.

Khalid said the statement by the Gelang Patah Member of Parliament was an attempt to influence the people that Teoh’s death was due to murder.

"Do not try to create something which is not true but can cause the people to be angry and suspicious. A political leader should not make a statement like that," he said.

On July 16, 2009, Teoh (right) was discovered dead on the fifth floor lobby of Plaza Masalam after giving a statement at the Selangor Office of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission situated on the 14th floor of the same building.

Meanwhile, commenting on the Korean woman who wore a blouse with Quranic words at a shopping mall in Ampang recently, Khalid said police believed she was still in the country.

"We have called several individuals believed to be friends to find out where she is now. We will take action according to existing laws," he said.

Last Saturday, Facebook posted a photograph of the woman, with comments of her being scolded by an Arab man in a supermarket in Taman Dagang, Ampang for wearing a blouse with Quranic verses.

The woman was believed to have just arrived in Malaysia and to have bought the blouse while on holiday in India.
