Perkasa threatens to torch Ramasamy effigy

Penang Perkasa has threatened to burn an effigy of Deputy Chief Minister II P Ramasamy if he fails to attend a dialogue with the NGO for his May 13 remark.

State Perkasa chairperson Fadzil Shuib said the NGO felt  Ramasamy was trying to incite racial tension by telling Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin to "bring (on) the May 13" racial riots.

Fadzil challenged Ramasamy to attend a dialogue with the NGO's members if he was brave enough.

"Since he challenged the DPMto bring on the May 13 riots, it feels like he is trying to say that Malays are scared," he said when contacted.

"We are inviting him for a dialogue with Perkasa, and Ramasamy can bring his people. We will send him an official letter on this to his office tomorrow.

"If he fails to respond to us, we will burn an effigy of him," Fadzil added.

Fadzil said Perkasa would explain to Ramasamy what Muhyiddin meant with his remarks.

He added that the dialogue's time and date, including its venue, should be decided by Ramasamy, who is also Perai assemblyperson.

"We want to explain to him why unity among the races is important.

"We want to explain to him that Muhyiddin did not actually mention May 13, he merely said such a situation was not impossible if there are problems between the different communities in the country," he said.

Today, Ramasamy stood firm on his May 13 remark, saying he was not apologising nor clarifying it as he felt Muhyiddin's remark was a threat.

Ramasamy also said he was upset with Muhyiddin's remark and that he was "sick and tired" that the DPM kept harping on it.
