Moral of the story in road bully vs uncle

YOURSAY ‘Be calm, be level headed and keep our human emotion in check.’

Road rage woman says sorry, seeks empathy

Lin Wenquan: Uncle Sim (Siang Hong) has displayed rare magnanimity despite the traumatic experience.

What is so difficult to visit the old man personally and apologise for the unwarranted and violent outburst and recompense him for the damage caused?

Wouldn't this gesture of contrition then bring an amicable closure and put to rest the public's indignation of her rash and stupid act?

The latest has it that she has apologised online and begs for empathy for her and her 'future' children (whatever she means by that). She also claims her racial slur was a result of having being cheated by a Chinese in the past.

Should that make me a racist too because I have had bad experiences with people of all races?

BTN: In our country, where we have many races living together, definitely we have been 'cheated' by our brothers or sisters from other races as well.

This does not make us view the particular race with discontent and hatred. Just say sorry and try not to relate this to any previous unhappy incident, which all of us will have experience at least once in our life.

There are many beautiful people out there of different races. If I was this woman, I will meet up with the uncle and offer my apologies and let it rest there.

All of us have lost our cool before but to be sorry and repentant is the best example of a good human being.

Ferdtan: I have read a few tweets coming from all races and generally they were good; they were mostly angry at Siti Fairrah Asyikin Kamaruddin (aka Kiki) for her unbecoming behaviour.

It has nothing to do with race here, and there were many Muslims commenting too that they were ashamed that a fellow Muslim had behaved in such an ugly manner during the holy month of Ramadan.

However, sadly reading Siti’s apology you can still detect a hint of defiance. Why didn’t her elders advise her just to give a simple and sincere apology?

Why can’t she just say that she had made a big mistake and be contrite about it; that she had lost her head?

Stop bringing God in. If she were to be Allah-fearing, she wouldn’t have behave the way she did in the first place?

Let’s move on. It was just an accident that was captured on YouTube for the whole nation to view. I hope she has learnt a good lesson.

David Dass: The 'old' man has already forgiven her. That was kind of him. Should she get off that easy? Her behaviour was bizarre.

At the very least, she needs to spend time with a psychologist - for anger management. She said she was concerned about her future children.

The least society can do for her future children is to try ensure that she has some control over that anger of hers.

Saintonthego: I agree that an accident is just an accident. Accidents can happen to anyone irrespective of their creeds, colours or religious beliefs.

No one want accident and if it happen it is just one of those days. Work out an amicable solution among the parties involved and resolve the matter.

Yes, you may have an expensive car and it maybe brand new, but as soon as you take it out, there is possibility of an accident. If you are scare, then keep it in the garage don’t bring it out.

Dr Suresh Kumar: I applaud this elderly gentleman for his patience and fortitude. It's sad that a minor car accident has to take on a racial undertone.

I dare say that this is the indirect result of the rise in extremists and bigots in our society lately. We have become an angry, depressed, selfish and a frustrated society.

Having said this, let bygones be bygones, since Siti Fairrah has apologised and demonstrated remorse. Let the police carry out their duty.

Relevancy: This news hopefully will teach us all a lesson. Be calm, be level headed and most of all keep our human emotion in check in such situation, or else we are as guilty as the guilty themselves.

The consequences and the price that one must pay will be high. One can consider this as God's lesson for all of us at one point in time.

Louis: The video should not be removed. It is very easy to say sorry and that all is forgotten. But the video will remind road bullies before resorting to uncalled for actions.

Paying for the damage done to a car is a small matter, but to bear the embarrassment is difficult. Video is a good way to teach potential road bullies to behave themselves.

JMC: We must remind ourselves of the wise words of Buddha, “Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.”  -Mkini
