Lessons from road rage incident

Netizens urged to use the power of the internet responsibly.
womanoldmansteeringlock160714KUALA LUMPUR: MCA Publicity Bureau deputy chairman Marco Yap wants netizens to use the power of networking wisely to transcend racial, religious and social boundaries and not to spread hate.
This is the lesson from the road rage incident on Wednesday where Siti Fairrah Asyikin Kamaruddin also known as Kiki flew into a rage after a small accident in Kuantan.
She has since apologised for her action but a video clip containing her racist rant went viral on the internet.
Yap said the elderly man involved have forgiven Kiki and is not pressing charges.
Many netizens had condemned the woman for her arrogant behaviour.
“This shows the power of the internet, and I urge netizens to be responsible with this power. If used responsibly, this power can be used for much good,” he said.
“This incident also shows that Malaysians are open-minded and able to tell right from wrong, and this attitude is what will form the basis of our multiracial nation’s progress,” Yap said.
“We hope the issue is considered resolved and the society accepts her apology,” Yap said adding that the society can also learn from the elderly man who showed tolerance and generosity by accepting her apology.
