Malaysians of all races have a responsibility to preserve the peace in this nation, said Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's wife.

Stressing on the importance of the spirit of 1Malaysia, Rosmah Mansor said:

"Let us not fight, not only among Muslims but we should also not fight among Chinese, Indians, Malays and all. Let us preserve the peace together."

"Don't only expect the Malays to do this. The Indians and Chinese should also do it.

"It is not that I am saying they (the Chinese and Indians) don't do this.

"But as the wife of a leader, it is my duty to advise and remind (the people).

"So that God willing, we will receive more rewards from Allah not only for Muslims but others as well," she added.

Rosmah made the remarks during her speech at the Cheras Recreational Centre where she presented Aidilfitri aid this morning.

'Get BR1M but can't sing Negaraku'

She also said that while she was impressed by the spirit shown by people while singing the "1Malaysia" song, the spirit should not stop at singing alone.

"No point in singing when it (the spirit of 1Malaysia) is not embedded into our hearts. I hope that we absorb what we sing into our souls," she added.

Rosmah then went on to say that some citizens were unable to sing the national anthem, Negaraku, properly, and this is something that cannot be "overlooked."

"Some people when they sing Negaraku, they are not smooth. I feel sad.

"They eat and drink in this country, they have received BR1M (1 Malaysia People's Aid), KR1M (Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia), and all but can't sing smoothly," she said.

"Some can't even sing. Maybe they don't believe Negaraku is our national anthem," she added.
