It is no joke, dear MP – Dharm Navaratnam

So the Germans have spoken. They disarmed the host nation, Brazil, in no uncertain terms.
Truly it was a sight to behold in watching Der Mannschaft decimate the Selecao. Actually, I found it rather painful watching how Brazil were just completely outplayed. It was shocking to say the least.
Closer to home, it was even more shocking to see one of our MPs proudly regaling Hitler in a tweet, apparently in honour of Germany's outstanding victory. The tweet read "Well done..Bravo..Long live Hitler..."
Does he even understand Hitler's Nationalsozialismus ideology? Does he even know that Nazism is the short form of Nationalsozialismus, meaning National Socialism?
Does he not understand that if he were to be subjected to Hitler's theory of racial hierarchy, he would be somewhere near the bottom of the heap and thus be subject to some form of persecution?
Obviously our wonderful MP does not understand any of this. He went a step further to defend his actions , saying that his tweet was done out of his admiration for the German football team, as they "fought like Hitler".
It was time for the Germans to speak again. This time it was the German Embassy. The German Ambassador criticised the tweet and said that they "strongly reject the unacceptable allusion to the fascist regime of Adolf Hitler".
However, our learned MP was unrepentant and claimed that the Ambassador just "didn't get it".
I have been to Dachau, near Munich, one of the many concentration camps where not only Jews were incarcerated but many others of different nationalities as well – including Germans and Austrians.
All of this was done under the direction of the Nazi Regime. The conditions that these prisoners lived under were appalling and the torture that they were subjected to even more distressing.
Standing cells where prisoners could do nothing but stand, floggings, hanging from your arms off trees and poles and even standing at attention for extremely long periods are some of the torture acts that were performed.
There were over 30,000 documented deaths at Dachau and it is believed that there were thousands more that went undocumented.
The minute you enter the Dachau concentration camp, you get an eerie feeling, almost as if death is all around you.
You leave Dachau with an unforgettable feeling and understanding of how wicked some people can be. You realise that this kind of atrocity should never be condoned nor repeated ever again.
I suggest our brilliant Kinabatangan MP make a trip and see first hand for himself what the Nazi's did before he decides to exalt the name of Hitler.
Unless of course he is supportive of torture, incarceration and killing of fellow humans in the name of a Master Race.
What he has done has brought the image of the country into question. His tweet is an embarrassment to fair minded Malaysians.
In any other country, stern action would be taken against anyone that made such a statement.
Even Prince Harry was chastised for wearing a Nazi costume to a fancy dress party. The prince had the honour and courage to apologise.
A 20-year-old Greek footballer was banned for life from from representing his country in international tournaments for giving a Nazi salute to fans.
In the US, a volunteer member of a town planning commission caused a stir when she performed a Nazi salute and mocked a town staffer with the words, “Heil Hitler”. She resigned from her post two months before it was due to end.
What will happen here? Although there has been a lot of outrage by citizens, there is no reaction from the Government or even the political party that the MP represents.
Does this mean that the MP's actions are being condoned? Why the silence from those in the corridors of power?
Is any action going to be taken against him? At the very least, does the German embassy get an official apology?
It is my opinion that the MP in question should, at the very least, make an apology not only to the Germans but also to all Malaysians who do not accept his ridiculous tweet.
He claims that the tweet was made in jest. I am sorry, but glorifying Hitler is not a joke and is in no way funny.
