'Hello Khalid, you're MB because of PKR'

Unfazed by the show-cause letter issued to him by party for speaking against Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, PKR Youth chief Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin has fired yet another salvo.

This time, he reminded Khalid that the only reason he is sitting in the MB’s seat is because PKR gave him the job, so Khalid should heed calls for him to step aside.

Shamsul (left) also claims that the PKR central leadership council had on Jan 15 agreed to oust Khalid as MB, and that he should give in to this instead of insisting MB’s cannot be changed at whim.

“His statements shows he doesn’t understand that he got the job because Pakatan Rakyat, or PKR specifically, had nominated him after winning Selangor in the 13th general election.

“It’s unfortunate that this process is perceived as unimportant. It shows that he places himself above the party, as if he is the only reason Pakatan won Selangor,’ he said in statement sent late yesterday.

He was commenting on an Utusan Malaysia report quoting Khalid as saying that “a government cannot make changes at whim”.

“This is different to an individual, who can agree on something today, but not tomorrow,” the daily quoted him as saying in reference to PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim raising concerns over Selangor’s administration.

The Star also quoted Khalid as rubbishing the PKR leaders’ claims that he had promised to vacate the post after the March 23 Kajang by-election, saying such claims were dishonourable.

Proding further, Shamsul told the MB that he could not have won his state assembly seat of Port Klang in 2013 or Ijok in 2008 if he had contested as an Independent or BN candidate.

He also took a personal dig at Khalid’s Port Klang constituency coordinator Faekah Husin, whom he said is already collecting in a big paycheck every month as Menteri Besar Incorporated CEO.

Faekah, who was Khalid’s political secretary, was also issued ashow-cause letter for a statement defending her boss, where she called Shamsul “stupid”.

According to Shamsul, Selangor voters chose PKR and Pakatan due to the coalition’s manifesto and not because of Khalid, who himself had to “run” from Ijok to Port Klang” to make sure he remains an assemblyperson.

“I urge Khalid to stop making ignorant statements which insult the wisdom of the rakyat, and to heed calls for him to resign,” he said.
