Health Minister rubbishes Selangor leadership

Health Minister S Subramaniam today let rip at the Selangor government, claiming that the Pakatan adminstration has not been in doing its job in solving the rising cases of dengue in the state.

"I come to this area and this is like a giant rubbish bin. Rubbish is strewn everywhere.

"This is the job of the state government. They do not seem to be doing their job," Subramaniam blasted after visiting a dengue hotspot area in Klang this morning.

"Maybe they don't have leadership anymore to manage a state. If you can't manage a state, then don't form the government," he added.

The MIC deputy president also said the Health Ministry will take over responsibility of conducting clean-up and awareness activities in the area after seemingly losing patience with the state.

"This is the job of the local council, but we will do this after this. See, this is not about politics. It is about the people," he said.

"The people need our help," he said during a walkabout in Bandar Botanic, Klang, Selangor today.

Subramaniam said that it would be acceptable if the state admits its shortcomings with the ministry in handling this matter.

Full of hot air charge

"It's okay if they come forward and they say can't handle this matter. But that's not the case. They keep saying they can do it, that's the problem you see," he added.

The state government's leadership status is currently under a question mark as PKR has proposed  replacing Abdul Khalid Ibrahim as Menteri Besar, a move supported by fellow Pakatan component, the DAP.

However, PAS is backing Khalid to remain in office, while the Selangor Sultan has not given his consent to a change to the status quo yet.

Khalid himself has remained stubborn about keeping his position, and there are no signs of PKR making any headway in coaxing him to give in.

Khalid was first mooted to be replaced in February this year by PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim himself, but the move fell through when Anwar was disqualified from contesting the Kajang by-election.
