Police have seized a tablet and mobile phone belonging to Batu MP Tian Chua over allegedly "seditious" tweets.
Chua claimed the seizure was made last night at about 7.30pm by "thuggish" plainclothes police while he was at a meeting at Armada Hotel in Petaling Jaya.
"The police raid team surrounded Armada Hotel as if they were seizing a big time criminal and they publicly humiliated me in front of my guest.
"Friends, I'm now incommunicado and helpless – a technology-dependent life facing a connectivity crisis! Damn the police state!" he said onTwitter.
The PKR vice-president said, however, that police had a search warrant.
Chua had last month tweeted that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak will be toppled within five months.
This followed the Court of Appeal's decision to convict PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim for sodomy.
Ironically, Chua had hours before the seizure tweeted about Black14, a monicker referring to Apr 14, 1999 when Anwar was first convicted for six years' jail for corruption.
In 2001, days before a rally to commemorate Black14, Chua's office was raided and he was eventually held under ISA.
"Memory of Black14 renewed with the continuation of crackdown, repression, raid etc: when will BN learn to respect citizen's basic rights?
"It's frustrating that nothing seems to have changed. Still the same bloody a** are in power and continuing with the show of force," he tweeted last night.
Chua has also been charged for sedition for remarks he made over the Lahad Datu incursion.
