Acting Timur Laut district police chief, Supt Ismail Idris, said all the detainees, aged between 16 and 35, were arrested in a raid by the narcotics unit at 2.45 am after receiving information from the public.
“Initial investigations found the organiser of the birthday party at the bungalow was a 27-year-old man. However, the arrangement was done in a suspicious manner, the music was loud and police found various types of liquor bottles.
“They were also found to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol,” Ismail told a press conference here, today.
All those arrested were taken to the Timur Laut police headquarters where 35 men and 25 women tested positive for drugs.
He said among those arrested were 16 school students who also tested positive for drugs.
Police will be contacting the owner of the homestay to assist in investigations.
