TAMAN VILLA SERIOUS WATER LEAK

THE worried owners of the Vila Luyang Apartment owners here have met up with the Kota Kinabalu Member of Parliament Hiew King Cheu to express their worries over the serious leakages in the main water supply piping work within the housing. There were many pipe burst incidents and frequent leaks which resulted in the cut off in the water supply to the apartment units.
According to the residents here, the water pipe is of sub-standard and since their moving in here some three years ago there were constant pipe bursts and leaks happening. The developer and its management/maintenance office had done many repairs to the main pipes which are under the access roads.
Many section of the pipes were cut off and replaced by the contractors in the past and new problems appeared else way. The total amount of water lost is three to four times when compared to the total consumption of the residents. The management is now using the management fees paid by the residents to pay for the water lost into the ground.
The residents worry that the extra water bill will eventually becomes the heavy burden on their shoulder, and they said this should not be their responsibilities. The developer should come immediately to resolve this matter because this is something that was constructed by them. They should not deny their responsibility over the sub standard pipes, poor workmanship, and trying to ignore the claim.
The KK MP Hiew had immediately contacted the Jabatan Air over the matter and he was told the JAS is aware of this situation, and certain meeting was arranged with the Ministry of Local Government which turned out to be cancelled later. Hiew said the water pipes here are facing serious leakage and cannot sustain the water pressure, and that means the water pipes have to be replaced due to the serious and frequent bursts.
There were more than 17 pipe bursts in the last two years. With this rate of pipe leaks, the resident said they really worried that the water bill will goes up and up. The only reasonable way is to replace all the bad pipes, but who is going to pay for the huge cost involved.
MP Hiew wants the Ministry of Local Government and Housing, the developer, the Jabatan Air to act immediately and to find a solution to solve the problem. The liabilities should not be transferred to the residents here because they are the innocence party. Anyhow, why the management used their maintenance fees to pay the extra water bills, and is this fair and right?
