Ka Siong denies plans for "ERADICATION" of Chinese-type schools
SEREMBAN- Those who are accusing the government of endorsing the closure of Chinese-type schools should read the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2013-2015 thoroughly and understand its contents before making statements.
Deputy Education Minister Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong said the air needed to be cleared because there have been rumours about the "eradication" of Chinese-type schools.
"The contents in the blueprint should be understood in its entirety and if they have any views, then they should bring them to the ministry."
Wee said some people were under the impression that Chinese-type schools would be eradicated but this was not stated anywhere in the blueprint.
He said chapter 7, page 16 clearly stated the security of Chinese-type schools were guaranteed.
Wee also cleared the air over the lack of Chinese school teachers, saying the special task force in charge of monitoring the situation was doing its best to ensure there were enough teachers.
"I am also monitoring the steps taken by the cabinet which had been endorsed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak," he said after launching the Dynabook Computer Workbook Version 7 at SJK(C) Sin Hua here yesterday.
The launch was also in conjunction with the 7th Eduspec Junior Robothon Competition 2012 that was highly praised by the minister.
He said the country had done very well with Robothon championships worldwide.
"We have been world champions in 2009 and 2010, while we took third place in 2011 and regained the top spot by beating Russia this year," he said, adding that some students were better with problem-solving and innovative thinking which teachers and parents should encourage.
World Robotic Olympiad (KL WRO) 2012 was held in Kuala Lumpur recently in which 405 teams from 37 countries took part.
