FACE UP to allegations, not ban non-MPs from exposing your MISDEEDS - Rafizi tells Nazri
Following the new ruling that only members of parliament could address the media at the parliament lobby, PKR strategic director Rafizi Ramli, whose expose on minister in the Prime Minister's Department Nazri Aziz  – who also double as the minister in charge of parliamentary affairs – said it was an attempt to stifle him from further revealing alleged links with Michael Chia, the timber tycoon caught with RM40 million cash.
“I have already predicted that this is the next step that will be taken by Nazri using his power to bar me from making press conferences at the parliament.
"This is another conflict of interest because the press conference may be about him,” Rafizi said in a statement.
Yesterday, parliament speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia claimed that “no parliament in the world” would allow non-MPs to give press conference.
He said it was "embarrassing" for him to see non-MPs speaking to the media while the parliament emblem in their background.
But Rafizi said the new ruling had further eroded credibility of the parliament.
He questioned why Nazri had not blocked press conferences in parliament during the National Feedlot Corporation scandal episode involving the family of Wanita UMNO head Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.
“It is clear, because he himself had been the target of press conferences lately owing to his ties with Michael Chia," said Rafizi .
Rafizi challenged Nazri to be more open and calm in handling questions over his integrity.
Earlier in parliament, Nazri put up a strong defence of Chia who was under a corruption probe. Days later, Rafizi showed evidences that Nazri's son Mohamad Nedim Nazri was reaping benefits from Chia.
Nazri however gave several controversial remarks when confronted by reporters over the matter.
"I'm a rich man, I'm powerful, good looking. Wealthy. So what can I do?” he asked.
